Phoenix is the classic assembly shoot-em-up game programmed by Patrick Davidson. It was originally released for the TI-89 in March 1998, and has since been ported to all TI graphing calculators. The game has been continuously updated and improved over time, and has many derivative games and levels available based off of it. In fact, the author has actively encouraged such activities, as the game includes full annotated source code and may be copied or modified without restrictions. The author has also released numerous related games, including Galaxian, Platinum Edition, ZMercury, Mercury, and Allecto.

The game itself has very smooth gameplay with many objects onscreen. Its features include many different types of enemies, many different levels, the ability to buy additional items, eight possible weapons for your ship, game saving, a high score table, multiple difficulty levels, multiple speeds, and multiple ships the player can purchase.

The game and its derivatives has been featured numerous times on ticalc.org over the years, and when all versions are combined, is the most downloaded program of all time on ticalc.org. Appropriately, Patrick Davidson is the most downloaded author of all time on the site.
